Account Balances

Puzzle stores balances trending towards positive, regardless of account type.

  • Example 1: If you owe $2000 in your credit card, the balance on your credit card account in Puzzle should be $2000.
  • Example 2: If you have $5000 available in your checking account, the balance on that account in Puzzle should be $5000

Money going in to an account should have a positive amount and money coming out of an account should have a negative amount. “Going in”/”coming out” is determined by how the amount will impact the account balance.

  • Example 1: If you make a $5 purchase at Starbucks on a credit card, the account balance should increase by $5, so the transaction should have an amount of $5.
  • Example 2: If you transfer $100 from your checking account, the balance on that checking account should decrease by $100, so the transaction should have an amount of -$100.
